I have traveled between Kaohsiung and Tainan multiple times, it is a quick and easy process. There are a couple options available for interested travelers. The first is to take the TRA route. It’s the easiest and cheapest option. The second is to take the high-speed rail (HSR) to Tainan. This route is more complicated and expensive but might be faster depending on the train schedule. How to get to Tainan from Kaohsiung
Kaohsiung Station (TRA):
- At Kaohsiung Station head to the TRA Kaohsiung Station (It is in the same building).
- Take any TRA train heading north to Chiayi, Qidu, Douliu, or Tainan.
- Exit at the Tainan Train Station.
Kaohsiung Station (HSR):
- At Kaohsiung Station head to the TRA Kaohsiung Station (It is in the same building).
- Take the Red Line from Kaohsiung International Airport Station (13 Stops) to Zuoying THSR.
- Take the HSR from Xin Zuoying Station to HSR Tainan Station.
- Walk to the TRA Station (Same Building)
- Ride from Shalun Station to Tainan Station.
